    Fruytier TIMBER

      • Fruytier Timber valorizes local softwood through the production of construction timber, outdoor finishing timber and packaging timber. Processed in our sawmills in Belgium, France and Germany, the wood — Douglas fir, spruce, larch and pine — comes from local, sustainably managed forests within a radius of about 250 km, ensuring traceability and territorial roots.

    Fruytier BUILD

    Through Structure Wood, Fruytier Build designs, manufactures and assembles custom timber solutions for professionals, for complex and large-scale construction and renovation projects. Specialized in glued laminated timber, glued timber, finger-jointed solid timber, timber frame panels and CLT, the activity supports projects across Europe.

    Fruytier ENERGY

    Fruytier Energy produces wood pellets (300,000 t), wood briquettes (10,000 t) and green electricity (75 gWh) through ERDA (Energies Renouvelables des Ardennes) in Belgium and BER (Brenil Energies Renouvelables) in France.

Our 6 production sites

With an international outlook, Fruytier Group relies on six production sites across Belgium, France and Germany, as well as an administrative site in Luxembourg.

  • BE – Marloie

    Historic site of Fruytier Group: this 40-hectare facility at the foot of the Belgian Ardennes makes it possible to saw nearly 600,000 m³ of softwood per year. It has 9 saw lines, 6 stations for sawing and sorting roundwood, a high-speed planer, 2 soaking tanks and 3 high-capacity drying cells.

  • BE – Marche-en-Famenne

    This 30 ha site is located close to the Marloie site for optimal efficiency. The site is fully dedicated to added value, such as planing (2 high-speed planers), drying (14 drying chambers), soaking (2 soaking tanks), high-pressure impregnation (3 impregnation tunnels of 24 m) and a finger-jointing and glued laminated timber line.

  • BE – Vivy

    Covering 20 ha, the Vivy site specializes in sawing the thickest logs harvested from our forests. The facilities allow us to saw logs between 50 cm and 150 cm in diameter, mainly Douglas fir and spruce. The facilities include 2 sawing and sorting stations, 2 saw lines and a soaking tank.

  • BE – Bertrix

    At ERDA (Énergies Renouvelables des Ardennes), we process fresh sawdust from our sawmills into high-quality heating pellets, sold under our Comfo, Pure, Cozy and ERDA Pellets brands. We produce up to 200,000 tonnes of pellets per year and also generate green electricity for nearly 12,000 households thanks to a biomass combined heat and power plant.

  • DE – Hochscheid

    Located in the heart of the German forest massif, the Hochscheid site mainly produces Douglas fir and spruce, as well as pine and larch depending on availability. Equipped with 3 saw lines, 14 drying cells, a high-speed planer and a soaking tank, it has a sawing capacity of up to 300,000 m³ per year.

  • FR – La-Roche-en-Brenil

    The French site was established in 2010 and specialized in sawing Douglas fir (Oregon pine). 
Located in the Bourgogne region, in the heart of the Morvan forest, this site guarantees a local and sustainable supply. It has a sawing and sorting station, 2 modern saw lines, 8 drying chambers and 2 soaking tanks. Since 2023, it has also had its own pellet production unit (BER – Brenil Energies Renouvelables), where sawdust and wood chips from the sawmill are fed directly via a conveyor belt.

  • LU – Doncols

    The office in Doncols (Luxembourg) brings together the Group’s management and cross-functional teams, in particular the commercial teams responsible for roundwood purchasing and Timber sales, as well as the logistics centre for managing the truck fleet.

    Handover

    Arrival of the 2nd generation, Pierre and Herman Fruytier, and structuring of development.

  • 1977

    First processing

    Installation of the first sawing station.

    Industrialization of sawing

    Creation of the first industrial sawmill (500 m³/day)

    Valorizing local species

    Fruytier chooses to valorize local softwood, which was little used at the time.

    Development of value-added products

    Creation of planing and drying activities to develop more technical wood products with higher added value.

  • 1999

    Internationalization in Germany

    Acquisition of the German sawmill Karl Decker, which became Fruytier Deutschland.

  • 2001

    3rd generation

    Arrival of the third Fruytier generation, including David Fruytier, today Managing Director.

    Establishment in Bourgogne

    Industrial development closer to the raw material, in the heart of the Morvan forest.
